Malone O’Regan was retained by Louth County Council as civil and structural engineer for the upgrade of the Essexford – Rosslough section of the R178 which is a regional road linking Dundalk in County Louth to Virginia, Co. Cavan via Carrickmacross and Bailieborough.
The scheme involved the upgrade of the horizontal and vertical alignments, and construction of new standard single carriageway in each direction together with road junctions, drainage, services, fencing, accommodation works, signage and ancillary works for a 2.1km section of the road, colloquially known as the Red Bog Road.
The works were constructed under the New Public Works Contract.
Malone O’Regan managed all aspects of the design, procurement and contract administration. The firm also undertook the role of Project Supervisor Design Process.
