Lakeland Dairies, Ireland’s second largest dairy processing co-operative has recently installed a new milk powder processing system at its Bailieboro Plant, making it the largest and most modern non-whey milk drying facility in Europe.

Malone O’Regan was selected by Lakeland Dairies as project manager for the €20 million investment programme. In addition to overseeing the management of the entire project, Malone O’Regan was responsible for developing the specification and leading the procurement process for the main process equipment supply together with the design of the civil/structural, utilities, electrical elements of the project to suit the main process supply and also managed the building construction, main process supplier and contractors throughout the project before co-ordinating the testing and commissioning with Lakeland Dairies to achieve smooth integration with existing plant operations. Malone O’Regan also specified and procured all equipment outside of the main process supply and was responsible for selecting and appointing all contractors and nominated sub-contractors including civil/structural, mechanical, electrical and utilities installation.

Malone O’Regan conducted a review of Lakelands IPPC Licence and is also retained to conduct environmental management and monitoring and the upgrade of the waste water treatment plant at the facility. The firm also prepared the applications and obtained all the statutory permissions and certificates and acted as Project Supervisor Design process on the project.
